Running the app
Use npm run dev to start the app locally:

Check the preview and pick a page size
The formatted preview updates as you type. Choose A4 or US Letter, and set a file name if you want one other than the first heading.

Download the PDF
Download PDF builds the file in your browser, with page numbers and real text you can select and search. Print / Save as PDF prints the preview instead. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
How the PDF is laid out
Headings get six clear sizes, paragraphs use 10.5 pt Helvetica, and code uses Courier on a light grey background. Numbered lists keep their starting number and nested lists are indented with their own bullets. Tables size their columns to the content when they fit the page and share the page width when they don't, so nothing runs off the edge. Every page gets a page number at the bottom, and the document title is set from the first heading.
Download PDF or Print / Save as PDF?
Download PDF makes the file directly, with the same layout on every device and browser. Print / Save as PDF opens your browser's print dialog with only the preview on the page. Choose Save as PDF as the printer to get a PDF that uses your system fonts, which is the better choice for languages beyond Western European ones, or print it on paper.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert a Markdown file to PDF?
- Open the .md file on this page, or paste the Markdown into the box, then click Download PDF. The PDF is built in your browser in a second or two and saved with the name of the file or the document's first heading. There is nothing to install and no account.
- What Markdown is supported?
- GitHub-flavored Markdown: # to ###### headings, bold, italics, strikethrough, inline code, fenced code blocks, block quotes, numbered and bulleted lists (nested too), task lists with checkboxes, tables with column alignment, links and horizontal rules. Links to web pages stay clickable in the PDF, and links to a #heading jump to that heading.
- Can I select and copy text in the PDF?
- Yes. The PDF contains real text, not a picture of the page, so you can select, copy and search it. Code blocks use a monospace font, keep their indentation and wrap long lines inside the box. Tables keep their header row and borders, and the header repeats when a table runs onto the next page.
- What about images and raw HTML?
- Images are shown as their alt text, linked to the image address, rather than downloaded, so the page never fetches anything from the links in your document. HTML tags inside the Markdown are not run: the tags are removed and their text is kept, and scripts are dropped completely.
- Does it work with Chinese, Japanese, Arabic or emoji?
- Download PDF uses the standard PDF fonts, Helvetica and Courier, which keeps the tool fast and the files small. They cover English and Western European languages, including accents, curly quotes and dashes. Characters outside that set appear as a question mark, and the tool tells you how many. For any other script, use Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF as the printer: your browser then uses your system fonts.
- Is my document uploaded anywhere?
- No. The preview and the PDF are both made inside your browser tab, and files you open are read on your device. The page loads the PDF maker the first time you click Download PDF, but your text is never sent to our servers or anyone else's, so it stays on your device.
- Why turn Markdown into a PDF?
- Markdown is great for writing and for AI tools, but a PDF is easier to share with people who don't use a Markdown app. Notes, docs, reports and answers you saved from ChatGPT or Claude in Markdown become a tidy document that opens anywhere, prints well and keeps its headings, tables and code formatting.
