Split PDF
Split a PDF into separate files by page ranges, every few pages or one page per file, or extract the pages you need into a new PDF. Pages are copied exactly, not re-rendered. Free, in your browser, nothing uploaded.

How it works
- 1
Open a PDF
Drop a PDF on the box or click to choose one. The page count shows as soon as it is read.
- 2
Choose how to split it
Type page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-10 to get one PDF per range, split every N pages, make one PDF per page, or extract the pages you pick into a single PDF. The list of output files, with their pages, updates as you type.
- 3
Download the files
Download any file on its own, or click Download all to get every file in one .zip. The files are made in your browser; nothing is uploaded or stored.
Four ways to split
Page ranges gives you one PDF per range, so 1-3, 5, 8-10 makes three files. Every N pages cuts the document into parts of the same length. Every page makes one PDF per page. Extract pages puts the pages you choose into one new PDF, which is the quickest way to drop pages you don't need. Ranges can overlap, so the same page can appear in more than one file.
Exact copies of your pages
The tool copies each page object from the original PDF into the new file, including its content, fonts, images, page size and rotation. It does not print, re-draw or turn pages into pictures, so a split file looks the same as the original and its text can still be selected and searched. The document title and author are carried over too.

Frequently asked questions
- How do I split a PDF into separate files?
- Open the PDF on this page, choose Page ranges and type the ranges you want, for example 1-3, 4-10, 11-. Each range becomes its own PDF, named after the original file, such as report_pages-1-3.pdf. Download them one at a time or all together as a .zip.
- How do I write page ranges?
- Use page numbers and hyphens, separated by commas: 1-3, 5, 8-10. A single number is one page, and a range with no end, like 8-, runs to the last page. If a page doesn't exist, a range runs backwards or something isn't a number, the tool says which part to fix before you download anything.
- Can I split a PDF every few pages, or into single pages?
- Yes. Every N pages cuts the PDF into equal parts, for example every 10 pages, and the last part holds whatever is left. Every page makes one PDF per page, numbered with leading zeros (report_page-01.pdf, report_page-02.pdf) so the files sort in order.
- Can I pull a few pages out into one new PDF?
- Yes. Choose Extract pages and list the pages, for example 2, 5-7, 12. They go into a single PDF in the order you type them, and each page is included once.
- Does splitting change the quality of the pages?
- No. Each page is copied from the original file as it is, with its text, images, fonts, page size and rotation. Nothing is re-rendered, flattened or compressed, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
- What about password-protected PDFs?
- If a PDF is encrypted, its pages can't be copied exactly, so the tool tells you instead of making broken files. Open the PDF in your PDF reader, enter the password if asked, save or export a copy without a password, and open that copy here.
- Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
- No. The PDF is read and split inside your browser tab, and the files are saved straight from there. The page loads its PDF code the first time you open a file, but your PDF is never sent to our servers or anyone else's, so it stays on your device.
- Why split a PDF before using it with ChatGPT or Claude?
- A long PDF is often easier to work with in parts: one chapter, section or report per file. Smaller files are quicker to upload, easier to keep within upload size limits, and let you share only the pages a conversation is about.
